Physics Current Electricity Combination of Resistance MCQ (Single Correct)

In the circuit shown in fig. E 1 = 3 volt, E 2 = 2 volt, E 3 = 1 volt and R = r 1 = r 2 = r 3 = 1 ohm.

(i) Find potential difference in Volt between the points A and B with A & B unconnected.

(ii) If r 2 is short circuited and the point A is connected to point B through a zero resistance wire, find the current through R in ampere.

The correct answer is:
CHECK THE SOLUTION.

[(i) 2 volt, (ii) 2A]

Sol. (i)

V AB = 2V

⇒ i 2 = 0 & i 1 = i 3

2 = 3 – i, r,

⇒ i 1 = 1A

⇒ i 3 = 1A

(ii)

Apply kvl in ABCD;

2 – (I 1 + I 2 + I 3 )R = 0

I 1 + I 2 + I 3 = 2
